The VPMA Story The retireesA group of Pasadena volunteer retirees feel the nation is wasting the experienced talents of a sizable professional workforce, one that could be of major help to advance medicine and at essentially no cost. So say the retired engineers and scientists of Caltech and JPL who for the last 10 yrs. have volunteered their time and contributed aerospace technology to 28 medical projects in 9 major LA hospitals. For this they received national honors, all without interfering with retirement activities. These retirees say "We are too young to retire completely. We may look senior but our mental skills are still in high gear. We do not want to quit. We want a part-time activity that makes us feel purposeful and keeps our brains in shape." VPMA These retirees founded an excellent volunteer medical project now called "Volunteer Professionals for Medical Advancement" (VPMA). Of course health is particularly important to retirees and senior citizens. VPMA which was started at JPL by a JPL staff engineer, Herman Bank, now provides advanced aerospace technology to doctors through hospitals . | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
