Volunteer Professionals for Medical Advancement
Typical VPMA Projects (Continued)
Cedars Sinai - Ultrasonic Desolving of Blood Clots
Animal tests have shown ultrasonic agitation accelerates the desolving of blood clots by chemical diluents in the blood stream by tenfold. VPMA is helping develop a special focusing ultrasonic transducer for human applications.

Cedars Sinai - Coronary Artery Reinforcement ('Stent')
Assisted in the development of an angioplastic type coronary artery reinforcement. A VPMA modification eliminated the early blood clots and replugging of arteries (restenosis) which had prevented FDA approval of the stent. Results since modification have been quite successful on 200 patients in Europe and 200 patients in the US since the FDA approval.

U.S.C. Medical Resarch Center - Ultrasonic Microscopes
Investigating the development of special ultrasonic microscopes for improved research capability.

USC/Women and Children's Hospital - Neonatal O2 Enrichment Controls
Investigating the automated control system for O2 Enrichment for premature babies breathing.
